Inspire, Nurture, Empower

with Karen Asemper

Wednesday 21st May 2014 from 19:30

Do you feel trapped in some way by the daily grind? Your mind restricted by shackles and constraints; mortgage, unhappy relationships, bad habits and even addiction – it can feel like a lead weight around your neck holding back the real you, the one you want to be?

Most of us cling on just to survive. What would the freedom to be who we want to be look like? What about those dreams we once had now abandoned after the roller coaster that life threw at us? In this talk Karen Asemper will help you to recognise that these barriers you may be hiding behind are not immovable mountains. Lying right there in amongst the darkness can truly come the most beautiful insights if only you knew how to reach and release them.

Growing up Karen lived with an alcoholic suicidal mother, suffered racial abuse, had a boyfriend who tried to put on the streets as a sex worker aged 17 and, having trained at two of the worlds most prestigious dance schools suffered an injury that resulted in her being told she would never dance again, something that was her life long dream.

However Karen fought back and found strength to find her focus and self belief as she realised we all have choices and the ability and right to make them. Years later she is a successful motivational speaker, an actress and life coach having graced our screens in the nations much loved soaps Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Doctors. In this talk Karen will share her story and explain how you can release yourself from the daily grind so you can Inspire, Nurture and Empower.

Truth and the Importance of Being Truthful

with Kimm Fearnley

Wednesday 22nd January 2014 from 19:30

What is your truth and how important is it to be true with yourself and with others? In this fascinating talk Kimm Fearnley uses her own experiences to help explain the value of truthfulness with ourselves and in all of our relationships. She will explain how we can recognise our own truth and the true meaning of abundance.

Founder and owner of The Ilkley Happiness Centre, Kimm appears to be a successful and privileged businesswoman, but it wasn't always this way. Kimm suffered serious abuse as a child and turned to drugs, alcohol and sex to help her numb the pain. She spent time homeless on the streets of London, lived in a squat and suffered from anorexia, bulimia and alcoholism.

Now, 15 years sober and with careers as a journalist and fan dancer behind her, Kimm is happily married and shares her remarkable story to offer hope and inspiration to help you take back your own power and find your truth.

Before I die I want to.......

The "Before I die" community art project went live on Saturday 6th July for 4 weeks and is a project that encourages people to reflect on their lives and to share their dreams and aspirations in a public space.

As part of the project a large chalkboard was erected at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton with lots of chalk and people were left to do with it what they want. Two weeks in the project has been a great success with the board almost filled up within days. There are some fantastic replies and you can read more about this at http://beforeidie.cc/site/leeds/ or pop down. It will be there for a couple more weeks at least.

Wed 5th June - Law of Attraction: How to apply 'The Secret' with Kirsty Champion

The third MICA took place on Wednesday 5th June with Kirsty Champion on The Law of Attraction.
'The Secret' was born from ancient knowledge that as we think and feel, a corresponding frequency is sent out into the universe that attracts back to us events and circumstances on that same frequency. For example, if you think angry thoughts and feel angry, it is claimed that you will attract back events and circumstances that cause you to feel more anger. Conversely, if you think and feel positively, you will attract back positive events and circumstances. The Secret claims that health, wealth, and happiness can be attracted simply by changing one's thoughts and feelings.

Learn how to put this 'law' in to force and what the crucial component is to enable you to start using The Secret to improve your life in every way possible. In this interactive evening, you will learn how this philosophy works and will learn the tools to enable you to start using it to improve your life, immediately.
